A common myth is that you must be young and in shape to take karate. Nothing
could be further from the truth!
Many people fear trying the unknown, especially when it has the mystique of
karate training.
The Dojo
Instructors and
staff strive to instill you with confidence as you take your first steps into
the karate world.
Like many before you, you can do much more than you think possible!
| Here's what you can expect: During the first private orientation class, the instructor will get to know you. He or she will prepare you our regular classes, and at the end will evaluate you covering many physical and mental areas. As you starts training with us, you'll have several aids to help you at home and at The Dojo, including curriculum guides. Regular classes are taught with a presence of respect yet sincere guidance. We want each student to have fun but not "goof off" fun. Classes are always upbeat and exciting. Each of our students knows we expect a 100% effort from them, but that we do realize that everyone has a rough day now and then. We want our students leave feeling they have worked hard and accomplished something. We strive to make the hour our students spend with us the best, most exciting hour of the day. Students understand that the byproducts of martial arts training – discipline, respect, humility, and focus – should to be applied to every other area of their lives. |

| Our Black Belt Course, which is by invitation only, is the program designed to take our students to first degree Black Belt level. Black Belt Course membership is offered to students who have shown a serious commitment and demonstrated a lot of progress in class, and, in the case of our teens, have the full support of their parents. This is where we introduce one-on-one sparring, re-breakable boards, and work with pads. Black Belt Course takes our students on a remarkable, personal journey to one of the greatest accomplishments they will make in their lives – earning a Black Belt! |

This is where we teach grappling, weapons such as the nunchuku, the bo, and the kama. In the Master's Course, we also teach defenses against clubs, knives and guns. A commitment to more advanced physical training is a must in this program, which is by invitation only. |

| The next generation of top-quality Dojo Instructors are born from the Instructor Training Program, or ITP. Our current Instructors impart their knowledge and wisdom to IPT students, who are taught to demonstrate and explain proper techniques to their class. We also highlight the right ways to teach a class, how to praise and correct techniques, and how to spotlight individuals and groups. |
